This Saturday Disney XD is teaming up with minor hockey teams from across Ontario to host the Disney XD Rink Rats Hockey Festival at the Magna Centre in Newmarket. The objective of the day is to give sixteen Atom (ages 9-10) House League and Local League Hockey Teams an opportunity to compete against each other in a big league tournament setting. Each team will play in a minimum of three games and will also send players to take part in a skills competition at the end of the day.
Off the ice, there will be plenty of fun, interactive games and activities for the entire family. The OMHA Events team will be in attendance with a mini-stick rink and the Matt Duchene Shootout Challenge. Embracing the Canadian hockey spirit, Disney XD stars, Bradley Steven Perry and Jake Short will be in attendance to sign autographs for fans before dropping the ceremonial puck and presenting the trophy for the tournament’s championship game.
“We are thrilled to be working with the OMHA this season and to be able to contribute to a one-of-a-kind hockey program in the Disney XD Rink Rats Hockey Festival.” said Paul Cormack, Director of Marketing for Disney XD. “Supporting and investing in kids in their local communities is important to Disney XD and we are looking forward to being a part of the memories these players create and the passion they develop for the sport.”
The Disney XD Rink Rats Hockey Festival is a joint effort between the OMHA and Disney XD that provides teams and their families at the House and Local League level an opportunity to attend and participate in an event that is fun, exciting and unlike any event they would have participated in before. This memorable event contributes to the development of amateur hockey players at the grassroots level and providing unforgettable experiences for those involved.
The festival begins with round robin play commencing at 8:30 a.m. and the autograph signing will start at 4 p.m. sharp.
