Development 1 & 2 | NCCP Competition Introduction

Development 1

The NCCP Development 1 clinic is designed for coaches working with players engaged in the competitive levels of hockey - Rep level Peewee & above]. The Development Stream focuses on the needs of the coach working with Rep level players - Peewee and above. 

Upon completion of training coaches will have received information on:

  • Effective team meetings
  • Teaching individual skills, individual tactics, team tactics & team play
  • Goaltending
  • Drill design & effective practices
  • Mentally preparing players
  • Off-ice training
  • Game analysis
  • Seasonal Planning 

Changes for 2015-2016:

Hockey Canada passed the following motion at the 2013 Hockey Canada Semi-Annual Meeting:

Effective the 2015-2016 season, all Head Coaches, that coach teams in Peewee or above teams at competitive levels, as determined by the Branch, must be Development 1 ‘CERTIFIED’ (other than those requiring High Performance 1).  It is recommended that all assistant coaches have Development 1 ‘TRAINED’ status.  

Development 2

Development 2 is considered as continuing education by Hockey Canada and the Coaches Association of Canada (CAC). The OMHA does not anticipate hosting any Development 2 Clinics in the immediate future.
