Speak Out! / Respect in Sport [RIS]
Prevention Services Program [PRS]


ALL Team Officials [Coaches, Trainers, Managers] in the OMHA must have a minimum of Speak Out! [PRS] or Respect in Sport [RIS] certification in addition to all other certification appropriate to their position. All participants must be a minimum of 16 years of age to attend a Speak Out! clinic. All Association Executives and Parents are also strongly encourages to attend the program.
 

OMHA Announces Partnership with Respect in Sport to provide On-line Speak Out! Certification
 
The OMHA is committed to the prevention of abuse, bullying and harassment, and the education of our membership. The OMHA has partnered with Respect Group Inc. to provide Speak Out! certification as an online e-learning course to our Members.  Respect in Sport online e-learning will also be linked to the Hockey Canada Registry [HCR], ensuring successful OMHA participant certification will be uploaded to the HCR upon completion.

Speak Out! Clinic Overview
 
Speak Out! is a 3.5 hour interactive workshop focused on the prevention of bullying, harassment and abuse in the game of hockey. Clinic curriculum includes:
  • Definitions of abuse and harassment
  • Responding to disclosures
  • Prevention guidelines for coaches
  • Showers and locker rooms
  • Dressing for sports
  • Transporting of participants
  • Injured and ill children
  • Road trips
  • Integrated teams
  • Prevention guidelines for playing
  • Prevention of harassment and abuse during competition
  • Fair Play Codes
