Program of Excellence

2013 OHL Under 16 Gold Cup

ALLIANCE
Hockey and the Ontario Hockey Federation are hosting the 2013 OHL Gold Cup in
Kitchener, Ontario from May 9 – 12, 2013.
The
OHL Gold Cup is a new annual event created to feature Ontario’s top Under-16
players. This event will not only showcase Ontario’s talent, but
is an evaluation and selection process for Team Ontario. With eight teams and 160 players
representing the ALLIANCE, GTHL, HNO, NOHA, ODHA and OMHA, the future of
Canadian hockey is on display during the 20 games of the OHL Gold Cup.
The top 68
players from the OHL Gold Cup will attend the Under 17 Team Ontario Camp where
the Team Ontario Staff will select 22 players to represent Ontario at the World
Under 17 Challenge held annually in December.

As part of the revamped Hockey Canada Program of
Excellence there is a transition to the OHL Gold Cup from the Under 17 Regional
Camps previously hosted by HNO, ODHA and OHF Member Partners.  The change
is to create a continuum of development through camps and competitions for the
players in their selection and preparation to participate in the international
events in the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence.

More
information regarding the event and details regarding Team Staff and Player
Selection will be posted soon.
