Chrysler Canada in conjunction with the Ontario Minor Hockey Association [OMHA], Ottawa District Hockey Association [ODHA], Ontario Women’s Hockey Association [OWHA] and the Alliance Hockey hosted the Dodge Caravan Kids Cup Family Hockey Day on Monday, February 18th in Windsor, Kitchener and Ottawa.
The Day was organized to give forty-eight local Novice House League Dodge Caravan Kids Hockey Teams from the OMHA, ODHA, OWHA and Alliance Hockey an opportunity to compete against each other in a big league tournament setting.
There were twenty-four Novice House League Dodge Caravan Kids Hockey teams represented by OMHA Associations, which included: Essex, Tilbury, Amherstburg, Riverside, Kent, Windsor, LaSalle, Wallaceburg, Grimsby, Lincoln, Milton, Dundas and Listowel.
The Ontario Minor Hockey Association’s Events Team was stationed in Windsor and Kitchener throughout the tournament where players got to play in the OMHA Mini Rink, had an opportunity to try the Matt Duchene Shootout Challenge and to see how hard their shot was on the OMHA Radar Gun. Players also enjoyed a complimentary lunch graciously provided by the local Chrysler Canada Dealers. A tournament skills competition was also organized at each event where forty players and six goalies were chosen to represent their teams an obstacle puck relay, fastest skater and breakaway challenge.
The Dodge Caravan Kids Program, a joint effort between participating amateur hockey associations and Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram retailers has become one of Chrysler Canada''s major community efforts. Local Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram dealers across the country have funded novice hockey teams, thereby contributing to the development of amateur hockey players at the grassroots level and providing unforgettable experiences for those involved.
