Big Eagles Helping Little Eagles Fly

East Gwillimbury, ON: -
On Saturday December 29th 2012 in an effort to bring fun and development during the holiday season, the East Gwillimbury Minor Hockey Association held a true give back development session for their current novice hockey players in a fun skills competition.
The skills competition lead by Steve [Coach Wooly] Woolridge, former Head Coach of the Young Nats, features the Eagles Novice aged players being put through the paces in a fun filled skills competition. Assisting on the ice will be the current 1997 born Minor Midget A team players in an effort to see the Midgets “give back” and understand that you always get more than you give when helping younger players in the association improve their skills while looking up to “hometown heroes” in their own association.
To give an added twist and deepen the story of giving back in the “Big Eagles helping Little Eagles fly” format, the current 1997 born Minor Midget A player mentors were joined on the ice by some 1997 York Simcoe Champion Novice A Eagles, one being their assistant coach and another and current rep assistant coach in the association with the Bantam A team.
Fun and skills development was the day’s content with the community desired “giving back” theme further strengthened. 97 novice champs, now coaching, with the players they coach, helping East Gwillimbury’s current Novice players enjoy a day of fun and learning.” Giving back and paying it forward”, well done everyone!
Thanks to those parent volunteers that worked hard to make this great day happen!
