Kingston, ON: -
Kingston beat Humberview 6-0 in the finals on goals by Conner Smith 2, Brandon Vandepol, Joey Mayer, Shane Amell and Jake St. Peter.
To get there, they won their pool with a 4-1 win over Russell-Embrun [Mayer 2, Kyle Cox, Smith] and two ties against Lindsay 4-4 [Mayer 2, Amell, Smith] and Orillia 1-1 [Mitchell Kirby].
Kingston then defeated Cobourg 4-3 in OT in the semi-finals. Amell scored a PP marker in the 1st and Mayer scored in the 2nd. Cobourg was ahead 3-2 for most of the 3rd until Jake St. Peter scored with just 2:27 remaining in regulation time to tie the game at three. Teammate Kyle Cox on a breakaway, then scored the game winner 1:35 into the extra frame.
By winning the Cobourg Regional tournament, Kingston has now qualified for the International Silver Stick finals in Newmarket January 10-13.
Coaches Mike St. Peter and Jim Kenny also coached the Kingston Minor Midget A team last year, which won the regional in Cobourg and then placed third at the Internationals finals in Newmarket. The only returning player from that squad is Jake St. Peter and his teammates will get to experience the internationals as now well.
