Schomberg Minor Hockey -
It was a fun filled day of skills, drills and thrills as over 50 Atom, Pee Wee and Bantam Red Wings took to the ice on Saturday September 29th to participate in a day long Skill Development Camp hosted by Schomberg Minor Hockey and Hockey Canada. The Hockey Canada Skill Development Camps provide young players with an opportunity to enhance their fundamental skating and puck handling skills in a positive learning environment. The primary focus of these camps is centered upon on-ice fundamentals, with time scheduled for life skill enhancement in areas such as respect in sport, leadership, fitness and teamwork, including dry land training.
Freshly outfitted in their new Hockey Canada sweaters, two groups of Red Wings alternated throughout the day between multiple on-ice sessions and off-ice workshops, stopping briefly to wolf down some hot pizza and wings catered by Leo`s on Main. Positive feedback from players, parents and coaches suggests that the Skill Development Camp was a well received addition to the growing skill development curriculum currently being implemented by Schomberg Minor Hockey.
A sincere thanks goes out to Darryl Boynton, Mike Dundas and the Hockey Canada Technical Team, as well as SMHA volunteer coaches for making the day a huge success.
