Thursday, September 20, 2012 Georgina, ON: - The Georgina Blaze entered the Markham tournament with hopes of gelling their team together after adding 7 new faces to the team this year. Game 1, Georgina beat Ajax 1-0, Game 2 Whitby defeated Georgina 4-2, Game 3 Georgina beat Markham 8-1. This record put them into the final playing Whitby [who defeated Georgina last year in the finals of this very same tournament] but there was no stopping the Blaze who won the game 4-2 and tournament Champs and reinforcing their team motto "ducks fly together". Team members are Ben Schrempf, Eric Van Loon, Liam Irwin, Jack Lorenzoni, Kevin Byrne, Jacob Book, Jaden Kent, Austin Smockum, Jakob Hamill, Lucas Thompson, Jack Carr, Matthew Smyth, Dario Fasolino, Owen Goode, Connor Clee and Tyler Koyan. Coaching staff are Jeremy Sedore, Kevin Sedore, Trevor Sedore, Steve Sedore and Mike Sedore. This year the team has decided instead of seeking a sponsor for their away jerseys, they would honour Sylvia Tremblett who passed away a few months ago. Sylvia was well known in the hockey community, spending countless hours volunteering her time in the GMHA for the kids in Georgina. Syliva didn''''t have any children of her own playing, but loved each and every player in the organization and was very proud, she is greatly missed by all! This ones for you Sylvia!
