Wednesday, June 16, 2010 Richmond Hill, ON: - The Ontario Minor Hockey Association is pleased to announce its Operations Team, as well as players identified for selection to Team OMHA U16 20-player roster. Team OMHA will compete in a 6 Team Tournament to be hosted August 12-15, 2010 in Kitchener for the purpose of identifying players for selection to Team Ontario at the Canada Winter Games to be hosted in Halifax, Nova Scotia in February 2011. The Operations Team for Team OMHA U16 is:

Chris McCleary, who serves as Director of Scouting for the OHL’s Guelph Storm, has been busy assembling his key personnel to begin the process of identifying players for Team OMHA. ‘We are looking forward to the challenge of assembling the OMHA Under 16 Team to compete against the other Member Partners in the Province. Given the amount of talent and depth in the OMHA at this age group and the high quality coaches we have in place with the team, we are confident that we will have a very strong team that has a good chance to come out on top at the tournament in August. This is an excellent opportunity for the players that are fortunate enough to make this team. Participating against the best goes a long way in further developing them as hockey players and creating a very memorable experience in the process,’ stated McCleary. Mr. Milek, Assistant Coach for the OHL Guelph Storm, was also recently selected as Head Coach to lead Team Ontario at the Canada Winter Games. The first order of business for the Operations Team has been attendance at the recent OHF/OHL U16 Camps for the purposes of evaluating many of the eligible players at this age group. In addition to this, player selection will also be based upon the Operations Team’s knowledge and scouting information on all players in the 1995 age group. The identified players will participate in a schedule which will provide the team opportunities to prepare for the August tournament event. Given the short window of preparation time available, as well as the limited number of opportunities to come together as a team, it will be necessary to maximize every opportunity, along with the expectation that all players will take responsibility to maintain top physical condition in the period leading up to the event. The inaugural Tournament will feature teams representing the Minor Member Partners of the OHF [OMHA, GTHL, Alliance, NOHA], as well as teams from the ODHA and HNO. The Tournament will serve as an opportunity for Team Ontario to evaluate players for the Canada Winter Games team.
