Saturday, January 30, 2010 Pelham, ON: - The Tim Hortons Pelham Panthers Novice Rep hockey team captured the Niagara Distrcit Hockey League regular season title with a record of 24 wins, 4 ties and no losses. 28 games without a loss is an incredible streak at any age, in any sport. Coaches Brent Mergl, Pierre Blanchard, Joe Glen, Joe Natale and Mike Repar have done a great job developing player skills, confidence and team chemistry. The team has an amazing defence backed by the goaltending of Nicholas Yioldassis and Evan Macpherson who combined for 8 shutouts and a stingy 1.50 goals against average this year. The defense was very strong, led by the rushing Max Blanchard, speedy Lucas Fast, tough Connor Adams, energetic Michael Rossi and the checking of Justine Barnsley. The offense was equally strong fueled by relentless fore checking, pinpoint passing and skillful shooting. The forwards scored on average 8 goals per game led by Connor Walton, Alex Repar, Campbell Veld, Ethan Mergl, Josh Glen, Quentin Annunziatta, Garrett Jackson, Alex Blanchard, and Joey Natale.
